Off-center strikes are popular errors and do command a premium based on the percentage off center. Value for these errors increases if the date is intact as well. Here is an example of an off-center strike, I would guess about 60% or so. Although the date is missing, inspection of the reverse design leads me to believe it is from the mid 1980s.
I have also found some trailing at the bushes at the right side reverse of the Illinois capitol building 2009 coin. Trail dies can also be found under the word "Liberty" on the 2009P Woodchopper coin. They are minor errors but still fun to collect.

There's certainly nothing wrong with what you're doing, but please be aware these nothing "errors", while they may be "fun" to find, will never carry any real world premiums or be viewed as anything "special".
