This is a direct reference to the movie where room 237 plays a major role, all the bad stuff happens there. 2. The continental breakfast room. A continental breakfast is pretty much "the cheapest crap we're willing to feed you". It's given the "continental" name because hotels hope you'll associate it with Europe, and hope you associate Europe with being fancy. It's basically a sarcastic reaction to the overly enthusiastic claims hotels make about their free breakfast. Specifically the continental part is elaborately made fun of by him mistaking mundane breakfast items as having exotic origins. The ending is a reference to the shining.
Definitely The Shining. Theres a reference to "Room 237", which is the famous haunted room from the movie. The picture at the end of the sketch is a reference to the last shot of The Shining.
