Matthew Barlow (born March 10, 1971) [1] is an American heavy metal singer. He is the lead singer for Ashes of Ares and former lead singer of Iced Earth and Pyramaze . He is Jon Schaffer 's brother-in-law.
In June 2012, Barlow announced on his Facebook page the creation of a new band with former Iced Earth bassist Freddie Vidales and Nevermore drummer Van Williams. Later that year the band signed with Nuclear Blast Records and entered Morrisound studio and recorded their debut self-titled album. The album was released on September 6, 2013.

Released in September 2008, it was the first Iced Earth album since 2001's Horror Show to feature singer Matt Barlow. The Crucible of Man is the second concept album based on guitarist-songwriter Jon Schaffer 's Something Wicked Saga.
Heralded as Iced Earth's heaviest album, [2] Burnt Offerings was released on April 14, 1995, [13] and was the band's first album to feature drummer Rodney Beasley and vocalist Matthew Barlow. Matt Barlow joined the band for 1995's Burnt Offerings. He would record three more albums with Iced Earth before his first departure from the band in 2003.

Jon Schaffer had intended to release both of the Something Wicked albums in one boxed set, with Matt Barlow contributing the vocals on both albums for the sake of continuity, plus adding at least four songs to The Crucible of Man and remixing Framing Armageddon. [5] However Matt Barlow once again left the band before these plans came to fruition.
Originally Matt Barlow had recorded the vocal tracks for the album, but due to his lack of interest in the band following the events of 9/11, he left the group in 2003 and joined the Georgetown Police Department in Georgetown, Delaware. [10] Matt was replaced by former Judas Priest-singer Tim "Ripper" Owens, who resung the entire album. [14]
