Matthew Barlow (born March 10, 1971) [1] is an American heavy metal singer. He is the lead singer for Ashes of Ares and former lead singer of Iced Earth and Pyramaze . He is Jon Schaffer 's brother-in-law.
Heralded as Iced Earth's heaviest album, [2] Burnt Offerings was released on April 14, 1995, [13] and was the band's first album to feature drummer Rodney Beasley and vocalist Matthew Barlow. Matt Barlow joined the band for 1995's Burnt Offerings. He would record three more albums with Iced Earth before his first departure from the band in 2003.
In June 2012, Barlow announced on his Facebook page the creation of a new band with former Iced Earth bassist Freddie Vidales and Nevermore drummer Van Williams. Later that year the band signed with Nuclear Blast Records and entered Morrisound studio and recorded their debut self-titled album. The album was released on September 6, 2013.

Matt Barlow was later replaced by Stu Block from Into Eternity, who had opened for Iced Earth in 2008. [17] With Block, the band recorded the album Dystopia , which was released on October 17, 2011. From October 2011, to December 2012, Iced Earth toured in support of Dystopia , during which time they recorded the album Live in Ancient Kourion .
