A Wien bridge oscillator is a type of electronic oscillator that generates sine waves. ... This does not change the principles of the circuit's operation, but it does ...
It was a low-distortion audio oscillator used for testing sound equipment. It used the Wien bridge oscillator circuit, that had been the subject of Bill Hewlett's masters thesis. It was also the first such commercial oscillator to use a simple light bulb as the temperature-dependent resistor in its feedback network. [2]
3.1 Wien bridge oscillator. 4 Filters. 5 ... Resistors much greater than 1 MΩ cause excessive thermal noise and make the circuit operation susceptible to significant ...
The Wien bridge is a type of bridge circuit that was developed by Max Wien in 1891. [1] The bridge consists of four resistors and two capacitors . At the time of the Wien bridge's invention, bridge circuits were a common way of measuring component values by comparing them to known values.
The Wien Bridge is often used in audio signal generators because it can be easily tuned using a two-section variable capacitor or a two section variable potentiometer (which is more easily obtained than a variable capacitor suitable for generation at low frequencies). The archetypical HP200A audio oscillator is a Wien Bridge oscillator.

Operation Amplifiers by Tobey, Graeme and Huelsman, 1971 on page 385 show the Wien bridge with diode limiters and they call it a "Wien-bridge oscillator". In light of this reliable source, I can no longer object to discussing the diode limited Wien-bridge oscillator on this article.
