Long Tieng (also spelled Long Chieng, Long Cheng, or Long Chen) is a Laotian military base in Xaisomboun Province. [1] During the Laotian Civil War, it served as a town and airbase operated by the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States. [2] During this time, it was also referred to as Lima Site 98 (LS 98) or Lima Site 20A (LS 20A).
The two battalions imported from MR 3 had completed their ranks; they now moved north from Long Tieng and swept the communists from the top of Phou Phasai. A 155 mm howitzer was helilifted in for artillery support. On 3 April, CIA case agent Will Greene promised his 3 Special Guerrilla Battalion $3 per day combat pay for moving into the attack.
