The fraternity was founded on October 4, 1968, by students from the University of the Philippines Diliman. [2] Initially known as the "Order of the U.P. Triskelions", the organization later on changed its name to the "Order of the Grand Triskelions", then later "Triskelions Grand Fraternity" which was then changed into the Greek letter name Tau Gamma Phi, in line with other student fraternities.

His aunt was Vilma Roy-Duavit, the wife of GMA Network founder and former Representative from Rizal's 1st District Gilberto Duavit Sr., which makes him cousins with GMA Network president Gilberto Duavit Jr. His late grandfather, Jose Roy, was a Senator in the Philippines. He earned his college degree in Behavioral Science at De La Salle University Where he went on to become the leader of his fraternity (Tau Gamma Phi). His involvement in fraternity violence rapidly increased and so did his thirst to seek out the most effective forms of combat. [ 3 ]

Kappa Sigma Tau existed at Northwestern University prior to World War I. In 1919, the group organized as the Campus Club but could not compete with the Y.W.C.A. In 1922 the group became the Kahniga fraternity, but in April of that year changed its name once again, to Kappa Sigma Tau. There were 22 founders. It collapsed "during the war years".
