The Portland Freedom Trail is a self-guided walking tour of Portland, Maine. Established in 2007, [1] its 2-mile (3.2 km) course passes through the city's oldest and most historic areas, including those related to its African American population, and features thirteen points of interest. Most of the stops are in the Old Port and Arts District.
The Portland Head Light, first lit in 1791, is the oldest light in the state and was the first US lighthouse completed after independence from Britain. [2] [3] The last lighthouse in the state, the second Whitlocks Mill Light, was first lit in 1910; it is also the most northerly light in the state and therefore on the US Atlantic Coast. [4]
It is one of the only iron lighthouses in the state, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Little River Light Station on March 14, 1988. [1] The light station is now owned by the American Lighthouse Foundation , which offers overnight stays in the keeper's house, and occasional tours of the property.

The Ladies Delight Light is a small lighthouse on Lake Cobbosseecontee, in Winthrop, Maine, United States. It was constructed in 1908 and is believed to be the only active inland waters lighthouse in Maine. The tower is 25 feet (7.6 m) tall, and is equipped with a solar powered dual-level LED marine beacon. It operates every night of the year.
