The United States Penitentiary, Marion (USP Marion) is a large medium-security United States federal prison for male and female inmates in Southern Precinct, [1] unincorporated Williamson County, Illinois. [2] [3] It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice.
While imprisoned at USP Marion, he stabbed Correctional Officer Robert L. Hoffman to death on October 22, 1983.
