Edward Leedskalnin (Latvian: Edvards LiedskalniĆš) (January 12, 1887 – December 7, 1951) was a Latvian immigrant to the United States and self-taught engineer who single-handedly built the Coral Castle in Florida, added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. [2]

[3] Among his slaves was Louis Pacheco, who later served as an interpreter among the Black Seminoles. [5] Francis Fatio prospered in British East Florida.
Villa Zorayda, also known as Zorayda Castle, St. Augustine, Florida, built in 1883 for Franklin W. Smith. The Moorish Revival style mansion was built as Smith's winter home. The poured concrete structure features Moorish arches, a crenellated roof-line, and a three-story tower. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [2]
