The visually-similar Jedi Crest obviously predates Sabine's logo, and was worn by Jedi generals on the shoulders of their armor during the Clone Wars. We can therefore speculate that the final Rebel design may be a combination of these two - evoking both the rebirth and rebellious spirit of Sabine's Starbird, and the history and hope of the ...
The Rebel Alliance starbird was a symbol of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. The flight helmets of the Rebel X-wing pilots were adorned with the starbird logo. Nearly thirty years after the Battle of Endor, the Resistance adopted the same emblem. Many pilots, including Poe Dameron, wore helmets featuring the logo.
The Rebel crest was first seen in the Star Wars universe in the 1977 film Star Wars (A New Hope), at the very least it was on the rebel helmets. It has become part of Star Wars lore and has, in-universe, been (to some degree) retcon-ed that the rebel crest either comes from Sabine Wren's phoenix crest (in Disney Canon) or Galen Marek's family ...
The title logo for Star Wars: Andor includes a symbol I don't remember seeing before: It seems similar to the Alliance starbird, and like the Jedi Order symbol, Sabine's tag, and the Partisan symbol, might be intended as an in-universe precursor of the Rebel emblem. Has it been addressed yet what this is or where it comes from?
The plates in question resemble an electronic device and are different from the rebel domino type rank insignia with dots wear by officers like General Carlist Rieekan. Rebel Alliance Sourcebook (by West End Games) describes the ID plates as follows: Rebel base outpost, safe world and Fleet personnel wear identification plates.

The phoenix, truly reborn. The soldiers standing here with him: Corporals Kason, Stromm, Gahee’abee, Polnichk, and Durs. Sergeant: Commanded a squad of 9 troopers.
The circular black and white logo used on the Imperial helmets was designed by me, and was based on a series of sketches working out the possible use of shapes occurring in 18th Century fortifications. The Rebel logo I take to be the one on the Fighter Pilots' helmets. This was again designed by me - no particular sources used this time.*
The first is people rebelling, the second is an alliance of groups of the first. The Rebel Alliance as instituted by Mon Mothma and Bail Organa was started roughly 2BBY. However, there were rebel cells all over the galaxy since the formation of the Empire (to be pedantic, they have been around a lot longer, but thats not applicable right now).
Open recruitments were technically against Rebel Alliance security policy, but they were a Twilight Company tradition and the captain was insistent the practice continue. So long as the Rebellion sent Twilight into hell time and again—and so long as Twilight survived—the company would replenish its losses from the ranks of the willing ...
