Vernon Historic District is a national historic district located in Vernon and Vernon Township, Jennings County, Indiana. It encompasses 42 contributing buildings and 3 contributing sites in Vernon. Geography. According to the 2010 census, the county has a total area of 378.34 square miles (979.9 km 2), of which 376.58 square miles (975.3 km 2) (or 99.53%) is land and 1.76 square miles (4.6 km 2) (or 0.47%) is water. [4] It is a rural county, with majority of the county consisting of personal farms and woodlands.
