The American Legation in Guatemala was established on May 3, 1826, when the Chargé d'Affaires John Williams presented his credentials to the Federation of Central American States. On May 4, 1943, the Guatemalan Legation in the United States was raised to Embassy with Adrian Recinos as Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary. [1]
