2006 LL8 (Vortec 4200) engine in 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. The LL8 (or Vortec 4200), is a straight-6 gasoline engine produced from 2002 to 2009. It was the first Atlas engine, and was introduced in 2002 for the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, and Oldsmobile Bravada. The engine was also used in the Buick Rainier, Saab 9-7X, and Isuzu Ascender.
2002–2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, with modification to meet Japanese standards. The first-generation TrailBlazer is based on a truck platform officially known as GMT360, with all models having four-wheel-drive layout as an option with both automatic engagement and the more traditional "Auto," "2-High," "4-High," and "4-Low" gearings, except the SS model which features an all-wheel-drive system.

For the J-cars, it evolved through 2002 when it was replaced by GM's Ecotec line of DOHC 4-cylinder engines. In the S-10 related models, it evolved through 2003 and was known as the Vortec 2200 . Production ceased consistent with the replacement of the S-series trucks with the GMT 355 sub-platform.
