The Diocese of Pueblo (Latin: Dioecesis Pueblensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory, or diocese, of the Catholic Church in southern Colorado in the United States. It is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Denver. The Diocese of Pueblo was created on November 15, 1941.
Pope Francis named Berg as the bishop of the Diocese of Pueblo on January 15, 2014. He was consecrated on February 27, 2014, by Archbishop Samuel Aquila. Bishop Charron and Bishop Michael Sheridan were the principal co-consecrators. [4] The liturgy was held in Pueblo Memorial Hall in Pueblo, Colorado.
On December 6, 1941, Willging was appointed the first bishop of the Diocese of Pueblo by Pope Pius XII. [2] [4] He received his episcopal consecration on February 24, 1942, from Archbishop Amleto Cicognani, with Archbishop Henry Rohlman and Bishop Joseph Michael Gilmore serving as co-consecrators. [2]
