The Royal Geological Society of Cornwall is a geological society originally based in Penzance, Cornwall in the United Kingdom.It was founded in 1814 to promote the study of the geology of Cornwall, and is the second oldest geological society in the world, after the Geological Society of London which was founded in 1807.

RGSC, RCPS, RIC, The Miners Association, IMM, Geological Society Joseph Henry Collins FGS , (16 March 1841 – 12 April 1916) was a British mining engineer , mineralogist and geologist . [ 1 ] He died at his home, Crinnis House, near St Austell, on 12 April 1916 and is buried in Campdowns cemetery, Charlestown .
He contributed papers to the RGSC on the submarine mine at Wherrytown, near Penzance. [1] Hawkins was a correspondent of Davies Gilbert, Gideon Mantell, [1] Philip Rashleigh and William Gregor, the discover of titanium. [6] In 1826 he served the office of High Sheriff of Sussex; he also served as a magistrate in both Cornwall and Sussex. [1]
He contributed sundry papers to the Memoirs of the Geological Survey, the Quarterly Journal of the Geological Society and the Transactions of the Royal Geological Society of Cornwall, serving as RGSC President from 1871–1879, and again from 1883–1890. [6]
