Melendez Films (formerly Bill Melendez Productions and Melendez Features, Inc.) is a film animation studio. It was founded in 1962 by Steven C. Melendez, the son of Peanuts animator Bill Melendez. The studio produced the ambitious animated feature film Dick Deadeye, based on the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan.
Melendez also produced and directed thousands of television commercials, first at UPA, then John Sutherland Productions and Playhouse Pictures. [6] In 1963, Melendez founded his own studio in the basement of his Hollywood home. Bill Melendez Productions is still active and is currently run by his son Steven C. Melendez. [7]
Snoopy Come Home was released on August 9, 1972, by National General Corporation, produced by Lee Mendelson Films, Bill Melendez Productions and Cinema Center Films (in the latter's final production). While not a commercial success, it received largely positive reviews, and fared far more successfully on home video.
It was produced by Bill Melendez Productions in association with Broadway Video and CBS Entertainment Productions in 1992, and released on VHS by Family Home Entertainment as part of their "Christmas Classics Series" line on September 15, 1993.
