La Plata is a partido in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, some 60 kilometres (37 mi) southeast of the city of Buenos Aires. It has an area of 926 km 2 (358 sq mi), and a population of 654,324 (2010 census ). Its capital is La Plata, which also serves as the capital of the province. La Plata is the centre of the Greater La Plata urban conurbation.
