Red Willow Lake Resort is a private, family-owned and seasonal resort located in Binford, North Dakota. The resort is located on the southeast shore of Red Willow Lake and operates a restaurant, pavilion, campground, swimming beach, and baseball diamonds. The resort also leases shore property to private cottage owners.
The recreation area is located on the 700 acre Willow Creek Reservoir, approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) southwest of Pierce, or about 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Norfolk. The recreation area is managed by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The area is popular for boating, fishing, camping, and swimming.
In the 1950s, the Forest Service built the Willow Prairie Campground adjacent to the cabin. In the early 1990s, the Forest Service built 19 miles of interconnecting horse trails in the Willow Prairie area. In 1991, the Willow Prairie Campground was converted into a horse camp and the cabin was opened to the public as a rental unit. [2] [4]
Willow Slough began with the purchase of 7,800 acres (32 km 2) of land in 1949. Further purchasing continued to bring the total size of the park to 9,956 acres (40.29 km 2). J.C. Murphey Lake, the park reservoir, was completed in 1951. Most parts of Willow Slough were once formerly grazed, hayed, and cultivated.
Willow Beach is the location of the Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery which is run by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Department of the Interior. The hatchery produces Rainbow Trout for sport fishing. Rainbow Trout are stocked year round. The hatchery also raises Razorback Suckers and Bonytail Chub, both endangered species.
Willow River State Park is a 2,891-acre (1,170 ha) Wisconsin state park located five miles (8 km) north of Hudson. The centerpiece of the park is Willow Falls, a powerful cascade in a 200-foot (61 m) deep gorge. Another popular feature is Little Falls Lake, a shallow reservoir on the Willow River.
