I meant Maguiars combo - hybrid ceramic wax + hybrid ceramic detailer (blue and green spray bottle). I use Detailer after I wash and dry my car, and sometimes I use it between washes when car have some minor dust. I use Hybrid ceramic wax every 3-4 months after wash, when car is wet. You just need to rinse it off.
If you want a good easy wax the Gyeon Wax is very nice and lasts 3-4 months. It comes in a stick so you can apply it on your applicator very easily. Other good Waxes are Soft 99 Raindrop Supersplash (Ceramic coating Hydrophobicity but only lasts a month) and Soft 99 Fusso (A PITA to apply but lasts up to 6 months)
I went into AutoZone recently and they got rid of pretty much all of their synthetic waxes and had all these new ceramic waxes. Sucks cause the $10 Mothers synthetic was my go-to for my parents cars. I’m a little out of the loop ever since I switched to ceramic coat but I remember Collinite 845 being king and Seal N Shine being the best new thing
its worth noting these aren't true ceramic coatings. These aren't the type of coatings that require professional applications and cost hundreds of dollars. these are essentially the new wax. first we had carnuba wax, then we had synthetic sealants, now we have these hybrid ceramic detailers. They don't need a coating that can last 3 or 4 months.
Best coating I’ve used and has lasted 4-5 Years on all my clients cars and they become lifelong customers in my experience. For a consumer coating, I’d say CQuartz UK 3.0 is probably the best coating you can “buy off the shelve. 2 layers will last 3-3.5 years in my experience.
Use something with a ceramic in it, typically sold as a “ceramic booster”. Hell, you could use a spray wax if you want, but the coating itself will most likely “reject” a majority of it, and whatever is left behind won’t last nearly as long as something with ceramic characteristics. Wax isn’t going to damage the coating.
Ceramic Coatings only work is the customer purs the same amount of money time and effort I to maintain the coating as a wax. Ceramic Coating destroy the value of historical automobiles since the paint is a historical document and by applying a ceramic coating you are permanently altering the painted surface.
Graphene is 100% hype. It doesn't compete with high end ceramics, and the best graphene products include SIO2 (i.e. ceramic). Go get CQUARTZ UK and don't look back. NuFinish Ceramic Spray as a topper every couple of months, unless you have scratches that show in which case use a ceramic wax like Griot's or Meguiar's.
Once a week, I dry it off with just plain old glass spray to remove the wax build-up! Then start all over again. Am looking into having the car's color changed to Burgundy. Had a Burgundy Lexus LS400 in 1990 when they first came out. Beautiful, deep, rich color! Haven't seen any nice cars of that color since. -Allen in Chicago
I used Megs Ceramic Polish and Ceramic Hybrid topper and very happy - however, after you select a polish or coating, I'll suggest you get an air dryer if you don't haven already - one of the best investments for a black vehicle. Every touch is a potential scratch.
