At the time of India's independence in 1947, the region known as Rajputana included various princely states [a] and the province of Ajmer-Merwara. Over time, these areas were gradually integrated to form the modern Indian state of Rajasthan. The integration occurred in seven stages, from March 1948 to November 1956. [2]
The following is the list of constituencies of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly since the delimitation of legislative assembly constituencies in 2008. At present, 34 constituencies are reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled castes and 25 are reserved for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled tribes : [ 3 ]
To constitute India's 17th Lok Sabha, general elections were held in April–May 2019. The results were announced on 23 May 2019. The main contenders were two alliance groups of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance and the opposition United Progressive Alliance led by the Indian National Congress.
Ajmer North is one of the 200 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Rajasthan state in India. [2] [3] It was created after the passing of the Delimitation of Parliamentary & Assembly Constituencies Order - 2008. It is part of Ajmer district. As of 2023, its representative is Vasudev Devnani of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
