The Anschutz Corporation is an American private holding company headquartered in Denver, Colorado, United States. [1] The company was started in 1958 by Fred Anschutz, a wildcatter, who developed and operated oil wells.
The company relaunched as The Colorado Springs Gazette, and the first issue was published on January 4, 1873. [2] [3] In 1946, the Colorado Springs Gazette and the Colorado Springs Evening Telegraph merged to form the Colorado Springs Gazette-Telegraph. The same year, it was purchased by Raymond C. Hoiles's Freedom Newspapers.
The two new owners created a for-profit business called Pikes Peak Media Company to produce the papers, which will be relaunched in a few months. The plan is to print twice a month, with 20,000 copies mailed directly to area residents and another 10,000 copies free to pickup at businesses. Zankowski was hired as publisher. [7]

In June 2006, KRDO-AM-TV were sold to the News-Press & Gazette company, while KRDO-FM went to Citadel Broadcasting, switching call letters to KATC-FM as a country music outlet. The Hoth Family, as Pikes Peak Broadcasting, had owned KRDO from its founding in 1947 until 2006, nearly six decades.
With its Englewood factory closed by the Arapahoe County Sheriff, the company moved overnight to new facilities they were building in Colorado Springs.
