10-10-2012, 04:26 PM. By reading the original post it sounds like the hole in the frame where the hitch bolts to. If so take it to an experienced welding shop so it can be properly fixed if this is indeed a hitch bolt hole where the hitch is going to be fastened. A place to talk about how-to, techniques, troubleshooting, welding processes ...
Tweet. #2. 01-09-2008, 05:54 AM. It would need more reinforcement than just butt welding it back together. You will need some sort of fish plates welded over the butt joints, and perhaps more reincorcement. You also might consider making a step cut in each of the frames, and having them mate together.
I have been told by body shops that using heat to repair a vehicle frame is not an acceptable practice and the vehicle is unsafe. Can anyone direct me to any regulation or some formal opinion or guideline that says welding the frame is or is not acceptable. Also I am in Texas is there a governmental organization that might inspect the vehicle ...
A crack on a flat surface is reinforced by a diamond shaped plate. Same thickness as parent metal. If the crack is 3" long, make a square that is 3.5" in the diagonal and have the diagonal cover the crack (you will have to grind down the weld - so a 100% penetrating weld is preferred.)
Thanks for reponse Bob but hoping to get a spoolgun to do the job. Any other options & your reasoning for the 350MP when only welding light material, 252 Miller Mig. 180 Synchrowave. R - 45 Milling Machine. Kingston 1100 Lathe. Miller 2050 Plasma Cutter. aametalmaster. Chairman Of The Board.
DC, for patch panels at the college autobody we use 18 ga. mostly but at times will use discarded hoods/fenders for patches, for your Jeep I'd use 18 ga. and we use .023 and C25 for all. Remember to clean w/wax and grease remover before ya start or grinding at the patch area has a possibility of contaminating w/silicons, and your paint will not ...
12-27-2008, 01:50 PM. Heat treated. Make sure the frame rail is not heat treated, if it is you should find a do not weld stamp on the rail, cut rails at a 45.weld with 7018 and through bolt rail insert. Insert about three feet long if possible. this method worked for lengthening, doing a drop down presents other problems, one thing you'll want to ...
You will need to open and retrieve the battery specs Voltage, mL (milli amps) etc. Sanyo is best "re-chargeable" brand I have used. Use cut strips of electrical tape to seal the frame back together then insert back into helmet. Hope this helps the fellow welder out there who's been hit by the US Economic Condition.
Tweet. #1. millermatic 175 wire feed problem. 04-16-2013, 10:20 PM. My millermatic 175 developed an interesting problem today, I am in the middle of a car trailer building project, and started welding some 1/8" thick WW11 aircraft landing mat pieces on to 4" channeling, the wire feed speed will not change, it is running fast (70-80-90) even ...
Trailer Cracked Frame Repair. 11-01-2010, 05:57 PM. My latest welding job was to repair the cracked frame of my friend’s landscape trailer. I believe that the hanger wasn’t welded in the proper position on the frame, which would have allowed the shackle to be vertical in the unloaded condition. This most likely caused the high forces in the ...
