Laughlin wanted to call the community "Riverside" or "Casino" but the Post Office opted for Laughlin. [4]

Laughlin suggested the name "Riverside and Casino," but the postal inspector in turn suggested "Laughlin" because of their common Irish heritage. [2] In 1972, the property, now known as the Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino, underwent a major expansion with the addition of 48 new rooms. In 1975, 52 more rooms were added.

Harrah's Laughlin (formerly Harrah's Del Rio) is a casino hotel on the banks of the Colorado River in Laughlin, Nevada. It has 1,505 rooms, including 115 suites, as well as a 56,357 sq ft (5,235.7 m 2) casino. There are several restaurants, a poker room, keno and a race and sports book. [1]
A second casino, the Bobcat Club, opened in 1967, where the Golden Nugget Laughlin currently operates. In 1968, a third casino, the Monte Carlo, opened its doors. The neighboring Bullhead City, Arizona was a key part in Laughlin's growth, with shuttle boats transported customers from the Arizona side of the river to Laughlin's resorts and back.
