The 2024–25 season is the 118th season in Al Ahly's history and the 57th consecutive season in the Premier League. Al Ahly SC is an Egyptian professional football club based in Cairo.The club first participated in an African competition in 1976. The first international cup they took part in was the African Cup of Champions Clubs where they lost 1–3 on aggregate to Algerian club MC Alger.
The match officials were announced by the Egyptian Football Association on 23 October 2024, one day before the final. [2] Amin Omar was selected as the referee for the match, with Mahmoud Abou El Regal and Ahmed Hossam Taha as assistant referees, Ahmed El Ghandour as the fourth official, Mohamed Maarouf as the video assistant referee (VAR), and Mahmoud Ashour as the assistant VAR.

Al Ahly entered the competition for the 22nd consecutive time after winning the league in the previous season. Al Ahly were ranked 4th in the CAF 5-year ranking prior to the start of the 2019–20. As a result, they entered the competition from the preliminary round since only the top 3 ranked teams were given a bye to the first round.
