Edgerton Park, also known as the Frederick F. Brewster Estate, is a 20-acre (8.1 ha) public park on Whitney Avenue, straddling the New Haven–Hamden town line in Connecticut. It is site of the demolished Victorian home of Eli Whitney II , known as "Ivy Nook".
The land that is now Brooksvale Park was once part of a farm owned by the Brooks family, who settled in the area in the early 18th century. In the early 20th century, the Brooks family began selling off parts of their land, and in 1958, the Town of Hamden purchased the remaining 54 acres to create a public park.
The Mount Carmel congregation was organized in 1757, when the area was still part of New Haven. Its first meeting house was located north of this site, and was where the town of Hamden's first town meeting was held in 1786.
