The highway exits Provo Canyon near Heber City, Utah. At Heber City US-189 meets U.S. Route 40 and is co-signed with Route 40 all the way to its junction with I-80. [2] Prior to the construction of the Jordanelle Reservoir, the highway continued north concurrent with the former alignment of US-40 that is now under water.
