"Hope" is one of the three instrumentals on the Rush album Snakes & Arrows. According to Neil Peart, the title of the instrumental was inspired by the chorus of the ninth Snakes & Arrows track "Faithless", which contains the word "Hope". [1] It is the band's second shortest studio-album-song, clocking in at 2 minutes 2 seconds.
The other two songs, "Hope" and "Malignant Narcissism", are two of the shortest songs ever recorded by Rush, both being just over two minutes long. "Hope" is a solo guitar piece written by Lifeson. Rush was a Canadian rock band formed in Toronto in 1968 that primarily comprised Geddy Lee (vocals, bass guitar, keyboards), Alex Lifeson (guitar) and Neil Peart (drums, percussion). The band's original line-up comprised Lifeson, drummer John Rutsey , and bassist and vocalist Jeff Jones , whom Lee immediately replaced.
