  2. Double Uni Vs Albright Knot - Bass Fishing Resource Guide

Super User. Posted June 6, 2014. Uni-to-uni is easier to tie, IMO, but the Albright is a better knot, slimmer, and wicked strong. I tie the Albright (technically a modified Albright) with about 10-17 wraps up the line, 6-10 wraps back down depending on the diameter of the line (and if it is a slick line, the slicker the line, the more wraps).

If you do that, you don't have a knot, you just have a bunch of braid wrapped around a piece of leader. Been there, done that.

I was fishing a Texas rig with #30 Power Pro and 10f feet of #15 Invisix Fluoro as a leader using an Albright knot to connect to main line. Got bit, set hook as normal, and it just let loose. All I got back was the braid knot, with no fluoro remaining in the knot from the leader, which seemed like it slipped rather than the fluoro breaking at ...

I've been using the Albright knot for years to attach a leader to braid. I honestly can't remember the last time it failed. I've broke off snags that fail at the hook and the joining knot is still intact. Though it's not that often. I use leaders from 6-20lb on braid 10-50lb. It's served me well, and is super easy to tie during tournaments.

I believe that the Nodo Albright Knot is actually just a plain old Albright Knot. At least thats the way I've been tying them for years. I use 10 -12 wraps of the braid over the leader material. If you pull the main braid line rather than the tag end of the braid first, the knot seems to form easier than if you pull on both strands together.

The Bimini Twist knot is a shock absorbing knot that creates a double line. Often that is enough to hold a large fish like a sailfish. A blood knot is used to join two similar diameter lines. The Albright knot is used to attach wire leaders directly to the running line.

A properly tied fishing knot should be 100% knot strength of the line. This means the knot doesn’t fail the line breaks away from the knot. Fluorocarbon line doesn’t have 100% strength. For this reason anglers keep trying to find a knot that is reliable and yields 90% knot strength, so far that knot doesn’t exist. Tom.

The albright knot has a tendency to put a lot of friction on your line, I feel like I have to wet the line a little more when tying that one than others. It's possible you're putting pressure on the line that then gets pulled up above the knot, therefore putting a weak spot above your knot.

Posted June 9, 2019. The albright special knot, often referred to as just the albright knot has wraps in only one direction, with an overlap where the line changes direction toward the end of the loop formed by the leader. It is (was) popular for joining mono to wire, or wire to mono where the wire forms the loop, and the mono wraps around it.

The only exception is when fishing light. 0.4PE braid to a 3 or 4lb leader gets a GT knot (the figure eight leader with a uni knot version) as the light leader tag end at 90 degrees to the knot doesn't have much effect going through the guides.
