Helen Rachel Mary Backshall (née Glover; born 17 June 1986) is a British professional rower and a member of the Great Britain Rowing Team. [1] Ranked the number 1 female rower in the world in 2015–16, she is a two-time Olympic champion, triple World champion, quintuple World Cup champion and quintuple European champion.
Douglas was a member of the Scotland Team at the 2014 Commonwealth Rowing Championships. [ 3 ] She was selected for the British team to compete in the rowing events , in the eight for the 2020 Summer Olympics .
Romero has won world championships in both cycling and rowing; as a rower, she won a silver medal at the Athens 2004 Olympics in the quadruple sculls, and the following year was part of the British crew that won the 2005 World Championships in the quad sculls. At the 2023 World Rowing Championships in Belgrade, she won the World Championship gold medal in the Quadruple sculls with Lauren Henry, Georgina Brayshaw and Lola Anderson. [5] The team went on to win the gold medal in the quadruple sculls at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics .
Craig then retained her titles at the 2023 European Rowing Championships in Bled and the 2023 World Rowing Championships in Belgrade.
