The 2023 ABL Invitational was an invitational tournament held by the ASEAN Basketball League. The elimination round tipped off on 2 January in Singapore, before moving to 3 other host countries. The tournament ended with the finals played from 3 to 15 March. [1] The 2023 Invitational featured eight teams from the region.
The East Asia Super League was co-founded by Matt Beyer and Henry Kerins [1] as the Asia League as a response to what the founders deem as a lack of high-level international tournaments featuring basketball clubs in the region [2] also taking into account the population in the region, about 2 billion, which could be a potential market for a regional inter-club tournament.

It is the highest level club competition for basketball in Asia. Introduced in 1981, as the Asian Basketball Club Championship, the competition rebranded in 2004 to the FIBA Asia Champions Cup. In 2024, the tournament was renamed as the Basketball Champions League Asia. [2]
