Willow River State Park is a 2,891-acre (1,170 ha) Wisconsin state park located five miles (8 km) north of Hudson. The centerpiece of the park is Willow Falls, a powerful cascade in a 200-foot (61 m) deep gorge. Another popular feature is Little Falls Lake, a shallow reservoir on the Willow River.
The county improved the road to the park, and in 1922 WWI vets Nick Stilin and Henry Kritz built three swinging footbridges for viewing the falls. During summers, Mr. and Mrs. August Froming sold food and drink at the falls. [5] The state of Wisconsin bought 520 acres at the falls in 1929 and additional land in 1935.
The reservation includes land around Rice Lake, Bishop Lake, and Mole Lake. [1] The combined population of Sokaogon Chippewa Community and Off-Reservation Trust Land was 507 at the 2020 census. [3] About 500 members of the tribe live on the reservation, while an additional 1,000 members of the community live off it.
