Brighton is in central Monroe County, bordered to the north and northwest by the city of Rochester. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town of Brighton has a total area of 15.6 square miles (40 km 2), of which 0.2 square miles (0.5 km 2), or 1.23%, are water.
