It is one of two rivers in northwestern Ohio that share the same name, along with the Ottawa River that is a tributary of the Auglaize River. The upper 4 miles (6 km) of the river in Michigan north of Sylvania, Ohio is called North Tenmile Creek on federal maps, [3] while another branch rising in Fulton County, Ohio, is called Tenmile Creek. The Ottawa-Bonnechere Graben measures about 700 km (435 mi), running from the Montreal area on the east to near Sudbury and Lake Nipissing on the west. [2] On the east, it joins the Saint Lawrence rift system, a half-graben which extends more than 1000 km along the Saint Lawrence River valley and links the Ottawa and Saguenay Graben.
