The Chinese University of Hong Kong [b] (CUHK) is a public research university in Sha Tin, New Territories, Hong Kong.. Established in 1963 as a federation of three colleges – Chung Chi College, New Asia College, and United College, [4] it is Hong Kong's second-oldest university, with the first being the University of Hong Kong.

Upon his retirement in September 2019, Lutz-Christian Wolff, Wei Lun Professor of Law and former Dean of the CUHK Graduate School (2004-2019) assumed the Deanship. Wolff was a founding member of the Faculty of Law (then: School of Law). He specializes in international and Chinese business law, private international law as well as comparative law.
Among them is Dr Sun Yat-sen, the founder of Republic of China, who was a graduate of the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese, the predecessor of HKU.
