The shiitake (/ ʃ ɪ ˈ t ɑː k eɪ, ˌ ʃ iː ɪ-,-k i /; [1] Japanese: [ɕiꜜːtake] ⓘ Chinese/black mushroom or Lentinula edodes) is a macrofungus native to East Asia, which is cultivated and consumed around the globe.
