I use the Kai's Dots recipe from the Facebook group, but it's pretty customizable: you just need a flavor base (I use ground up meat or veggies, but have used dog safe baby food in the past and you could certainly use peanut butter), a little bit of vegetable oil, 1-2 eggs, and then flour until you get a pancake batter consistency.
The argument that beet pulp is an "unnatural" ingredient is often brought up, but people who present this complaint seem to forget that it is also not natural for dogs to eat highly processed commercial products with a carb content of generally 40% and more, and a moisture content of only around 10% as opposed to a more natural 60-70%.

I know he doesnt need the extras, he doesnt get a ton or anything. Just a small treat or two inside of a treat toy when i leave for work. and meat scraps if i have some for dinner. I usually buy treats for "tiny-small" dogs, not the medium or large treats, that way he still gets a nibble but i can watch his weight.

I use a drawstring treat bag with a spot for poop bags on a belt around my hips. The top is circular and can stay open if you don't close the drawstring. But for around the house with puppies, I set up little jars/containers with treats in every room so they are handy for offered good behaviour or training something in a pinch.
