We used 4 small HEB cakes, along with a cake my friend made. We also bought 4 small sheet cakes to supplement the small ones (kept them in the back. no one knew they were HEB, or even that we had the sheet cakes)These didn't hold up through the wedding. Icing started to slide down the sides. That being said, they were also not kept cool.
November 2010 edited December 2011. My cousin worked in a Hyvee bakery and told me all the ins and outs of their wedding cakes. Pricing depends on which HyVee you go to, but hers runs $2-$4 a slice for just a plain buttercream cake with very little detail. Fondant adds another $1 per slice.
Kind of the same way that cutting the traditional cake tells guests that they are welcomed to come up and grab a slice of cake. The only difference is that there are cupcakes instead of slices of cakes. And honestly, the "cutting of the cake" no matter what style of cake there is a photo op moment. Period.
July 2013. fake cakes known as cakes made out of foam and decorated can cost just as much as a real cake. it takes just as much time to decorate a dummy cake as it is a regular cake and almost all places charge the same amount.. wegmans might have tiered wedding cakes that they make and they will be much cheeper than a bakery cake from a bakery..

I don't believe they do tierd cakes, but I know a lot of people that got a small tierd cake elsewhere and then did some sheet cakes from Costco. I did individual cakes on each table (8 or 10 inch round cakes) from Sam's Club for my reception. I think they were $12.50/cake. They were plain white frosting, and then I had extra gerbera daisies ...
It's off of 17th Street in Costa Mesa. I don't know about Gluten free, but it was the least expensive out of all the bakeries that I checked. I thought it was delicious- my friend used them and I liked her cake, so I went with them too. Report Reply. kyks17 member. March 2010 edited December 2011.
