Pegasus Seiya (天馬星座 ( ぺガサス ) の星矢, Pegasasu no Seiya) is the Bronze Saint of Pegasus in the 20th century and titular character of the series. An orphaned child later revealed to be one of Mitsumasa Kido's sons, he was separated from his sister Seika and sent to Greece to become a Saint, a soldier of the goddess Athena.

Despite being capable of dealing Light-based attacks, Koga is later revealed to originally command the element of Darkness and be a host for Abzu, the God of Darkness. During the final battle against Abzu, with his Pegasus Cloth damaged, he dons Seiya's Sagittarius Cloth and defeats the God of Darkness, expelling the darkness from his body.

Seiya has also appeared as a supporting character in other works related to Saint Seiya, such as the anime Saint Seiya Omega and the Saint Seiya Episode.G manga trilogy. Like most of Kurumada's characters, Seiya's design was inspired by Ryuji Takane, the protagonist of his manga Ring ni Kakero.
