Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) is a state-owned company with responsibility for developing, maintaining, planning, and managing airports in Ghana. It was registered in 2006 and presently manages airports such as Kotoka International Airport, Nana Agyemang Prempeh I International Airport, Tamale International Airport, Wa Airport, Sunyani Airport, Ho Airport and other airstrips in Ghana. The shipping unit of the company is the first and only Freight Forwarding Company to obtain the Air Carrier Licence in handling chartered cargo flights in Ghana and currently has the GSA for Global Aviation in West Africa. [8] In 2019, McDan acquired a license to operate a private jet section at the Kotoka International Airport. [9]
Stapleton International Airport was replaced by Denver International Airport in 1995; [1] it was closed and the property redeveloped as the commercial and residential neighborhood of Central Park, which was named Stapleton until 2020. The Stapleton International Airport codes were transferred to the new airport, which continues to use them today.

The development is promoted by Ghana Airports Company Limited on the principle that airports have ceased to be mere terminals, but rather economic growth outlets to promote trade and generate employment.
In April 2019, the Parliament of Ghana approved a budget of €58.9 million for Phase 3 of the development of the Prempeh I International Airport. [28] Phase 3 includes an extension of the terminal building, a fire station, fire access routes and an air control tower.
