Klamath Falls (/ ˈ k l æ m ə θ / KLAM-əth) is a city in, and the county seat of, Klamath County, Oregon, United States. The city was originally called Linkville when George Nurse founded the town in 1867. It was named after the Link River, on whose falls the city was sited. The name was changed to Klamath Falls in 1893. [5]

Upper Klamath Lake is the largest remnant of Lake Modoc, a giant pluvial lake that existed in the region until about 10,000 years ago. At its largest, Lake Modoc covered over 1,000 square miles (2,600 km 2), joining Upper Klamath, Lower Klamath, and Tule Lakes, as well as all of the major wetlands in the upper Klamath River basin, into a contiguous body of water.
The CDP is in southwestern Klamath County, on a cluster of hills between Upper Klamath Lake to the northeast, Wocus Marsh to the southwest, and Caledonia Marsh to the northwest. Payne Canyon, in the center of the hills, is the site of the Running Y Ranch Golf Course. The community is 8 miles (13 km) northwest of Klamath Falls, the county seat.
