It set high standards of behavior and discipline and set about the process of raising attainment and expectations as well as giving students a real voice in the way that the academy was run. It is the oldest secondary school in the Langley School District, having been opened in 1949. Langley Secondary offers programs for students in Grade 9 to 12 and has strong traditions in academics, fine arts and athletics.
Construction of Pierre Elliott Trudeau HS commenced in June 2001. The school opened on September 3, 2002 with 500 students in grade 7, 8, 9 and 10. The grade 7 and 8 students were from Castlemore Public School, a designated feeder school, and were segregated from the high school students. The Class of 2005 was the first graduating class.
