Umananda Island is the smallest inhabited river islet in the middle of river Brahmaputra, flowing through the city of Guwahati in Assam, a state in northeast India. Its name derives from Assamese Uma , another name for the Hindu goddess Parvati , the wife of Shiva ; and ananda , which translates to "joy".

Little Nicobar Island's area is 140 km 2 (54 sq mi). There are a few smaller islands off of Little Nicobar's shores: Pulomilo , Menchal, Treis (Albatei), Trak (Mafuya) and Meroe. The island of Katchal is located 56 km (35 mi) to the north.
Kondul Island was affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami. After the tsunami, the surviving population migrated to Great Nicobar. [4] In 2015 2 elders returned to the island and they renovated the jetty. Poachers from Myanmar are doing illegal fishing around the island regularly. [5]
