The State University of New York at Cortland is a public university in Cortland, New York. The university was known as Cortland Normal School from 1868 to 1941, and Cortland State Teachers College from 1941 to 1961. It is also called SUNY Cortland. Following are some of its notable alumni.

Curt Fitzpatrick (born c. 1982) is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach for Colgate University, a position he has held since 2025. [1] He also was the head football coach for the State University of New York at Morrisville from 2013 to 2019 and State University of New York at Cortland from 2020 to 2024.

The team plays its home games at James J. Grady '50, M '61 Field at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex or Grady Field for short in Cortland, New York. The Red Dragons are led by Curt Fitzpatrick, who has served as head coach since 2020. [2] The Red Dragons won their first NCAA Division III national championship in 2023.
For the last 20 years, the club has hosted the Suzanne Wingate Memorial Golf Tournament. The tournament is named after former SUNY Cortland professor Dr. Suzanne Wingate. Wingate, who was an avid golfer, is credited with founding the college’s Sport Management program and worked there from 1985 until her death from cancer in 1995.
