Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD) is a school district based in League City, Texas, United States. The district serves most of the Clear Lake Area and some other neighboring parts of the Houston metropolitan area.
It was dissolved in 1959 when it merged with the Missouri City Independent School District to form the Fort Bend Independent School District. [4] Voters approved the consolidation on April 18 that year. Edward Mercer was the final superintendent of Sugar Land ISD, and he became assistant superintendent of the new FBISD. [5]
At one point black students from Missouri City were moved to M.R. Wood from Missouri City High School. [3] The panthers were the school mascot. In the 1950s and 1960s the American football team won eight district championships in a row. The 2010 book Sugar Land, written by the city government, stated that M.R. Fort Bend ISD was formed when Sugar Land ISD and Missouri City ISD merged after an election on April 18, 1959. [3] The first superintendent was Louis P. Rodgers, who had been the Missouri City ISD superintendent upon the merger. The Sugar Land ISD superintendent Edward Mercer, became the assistant superintendent. [5]
It serves: [2] portions of Rosenberg, [3] unincorporated portions of Fort Bend County, the LCISD portion of Sugar Land (including Greatwood), Thompsons, [4] and the communities of Crabb, and Canyon Gate. [citation needed] The school's address is 8181 FM 762, Richmond, TX 77469, adjacent to Reading Junior High School.
In 1947 LCISD was first defined in the Fort Bend County public records. It was a consolidation of Richmond ISD, Rosenberg ISD and Beasley ISD along with a number of rural "Common School Districts". [4] The names of the Common School Districts were: Rice Farm, Thompsons, Booth, Simonton, Fulshear, Foster, Brandt, George, Cottonwood & Pleak. [5]
League City is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, in Galveston County, within the Greater Houston metropolitan area. The population was 114,392 at the 2020 census. [5]The city of League City has a small portion north of Clear Creek within Harris County zoned for residential and commercial uses. [7]
The school, which serves grades 9-12, is a part of the Fort Bend Independent School District. Although having a Sugar Land, Texas address, the school is located outside the city limits of Sugar Land; only students from New Territory live within the City of Sugar Land. [7]
