Magnolia Grove is a small neighborhood located along Buffalo Bayou between downtown Houston and Memorial Park in Houston, Texas. The neighborhood is bounded by Memorial Drive , Shepherd Drive, Washington Avenue, and Waugh Drive.
In 1890 Magnolia Park was laid out on a 1,374-acre (556 ha) site on Harrisburg Road across Brays Bayou from Harrisburg and 7 miles (11 km) downstream from Houston. The plot was owned by Thomas M. Brady, and the community was named for the 3,750 magnolias planted by developers. The Magnolia Park community was organized in 1909. [2]
Kingwood first appeared as a census designated place in the 1980 U.S. Census. [21] It was annexed to the city of Houston prior to the 2000 U.S. Census. [22]In 2015 the City of Houston-defined Kingwood Super Neighborhood had 62,067 residents. 79% were non-Hispanic white, 12% were Hispanic, 4% each were non-Hispanic blacks and Asians, and 2% were non-Hispanic others.
Spring Branch is a district in west-northwest Harris County, Texas, United States, roughly bordered by Tanner Road and Hempstead Road to the north, Beltway 8 to the west, Interstate 10 to the south, and the 610 Loop to the east; it is almost entirely within the city of Houston. [4]
The east end of the community was the Old Galveston Road (Texas State Highway 3) and the Galveston, Houston, Henderson Railroad. The western edge was Freestone Street and the railway just to the west. Where the main street continued east from Old Galveston Road became known as Genoa Red Bluff (the road from Genoa to Red Bluff).
