The excitement around the long-awaited collaboration helped Volta become Björk’s only Top Ten album in America and made “Earth Intruders” her first Hot 100 entry in over a decade.
Björk released her sixth studio album, Volta, in 2007. The album was her first to reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart, while its first single "Earth Intruders" is Björk highest charting single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The 2009 release Voltaïc, is a companion box-set consisting of live and remix recordings.
Björk Guðmundsdóttir was born on 21 November 1965 in Reykjavík. [12] She was raised by her mother, Hildur Rúna Hauksdóttir (7 October 1946 – 25 October 2018 [13]), an activist who protested against the development of Iceland's Kárahnjúkar Hydropower Plant, [14] having divorced from Björk's father, Guðmundur Gunnarsson, an electrician and union leader, after Björk was born.
