Alexander Fletcher Ferguson (A. F. Ferguson), a chartered accountant from Scotland, came to Bombay in 1889 as chief accountant for the merchant firm Ritchie Stewart & Co., (later Forbes Forbes Campbell & Co. (Private) Limited).
