Kano released her first major album, Nowhere, on May 11, 2016. [8] Her third single, "Nameless", was released on September 7, 2016, [9] with the title track being used as the ending theme of the anime series Alderamin on the Sky. [10]
Kano was 20 years old when the album was released. The album received highly positive reviews from music critics and peaked at number 36 on the UK Albums Chart. Six singles were released from the album— "P's and Q's", "Typical Me" featuring Ghetts, "Remember Me", "Nite Nite" featuring Leo the Lion & The Streets, "Brown Eyes" and "Signs in Life".
On New Year's Eve 2005, he was announced as one of "London's Heroes of 2005" by Mayor of London Ken Livingstone. He was also nominated for a BRIT Award for Best Urban Act in January 2006. In 2016 Kano's album Made in the Manor was nominated for the Mercury Music Award. Made in the Manor also won 'Best Album' in the 2016 MOBO awards.
The band went on to record two other albums – 1981's New York Cake (which included the minor hits "She's a Star", "Don't Try to Stop Me" and "Can't Hold Back") and 1983's Another Life (including the title track and "I Need Love"). Both albums featured West Indian-born singer Glen White. Their final record was the 1985 single "This Is the Night".
