Manila Carnival was an annual carnival festival held in Manila during the early American colonial period up to the time before the Second World War.It was organized by the American colonial administration to showcase the economic development of the Philippines.

The 1st Far Eastern Championship Games were held in 1–9 February 1913 in Manila, Philippines. [1] The inaugural tournament was officially opened by Governor General William Cameron Forbes at the Carnival Grounds in Malate, Manila. Six countries participated at the tournament. [2]
The holding of the first Western Asiatic Games in 1934 demonstrated an increasing desire for Asian-led international multi-sport events. Following the end of World War II , the Asian Games was created in 1951 and featured two of the former Far Eastern groups – Japan and the Philippines.
